High School Diploma and Equivalency Prep A message from our instructor:
I'm excited to get back into the classroom this month and see students in person! Here's how my classes will be changing as a result:
Adult Basic Education - We will be starting the math curriculum from the beginning this month, so join us if you need to brush up on basic math skills. We will also be starting a Reading, Language, and Writing workshop that will continue through the end of the year. Instruction will be in-person but there is an online program you can use if you're not ready to take that step yet.
HiSET Prep - Students will continue with our online program and may schedule one-on-one video tutorials with me if needed. Students may also return to the classroom for instruction in math and/or essay writing. All previous math instruction has been recorded during online sessions this year and is available to all students in our Google Classroom, so if you need to start from the beginning, you can!
High School Diploma - Students may continue to work entirely from home or they may return to the classroom. One-on-one tutorials can be scheduled online or can occur in the classroom during class times.
All classes are open-enrollment, so new students are always welcome! We just have two months of learning left this spring, so let's get to work! =)
We are excited to finally be able to have students back in the classroom in small groups. Mr. Fleury's English classes will meet with up to 12 students at a time. Class schedules will remain the same and it's up to you if you want to join the class in-person or at home with online remote lessons. Please let Mr. Jeff Fleury know if you would like to join the in-person class so he can assign you a seat in his classroom. We will continue to offer at home learning as an option.
Do you want to gain some computer skills? Maybe learn typing or improve your typing speed? We can help! Join our computer class for beginners. We are now able to have small group lessons in the classroom to get you started on the computer literacy path.
Our Computer Literacy and Microsoft Word courses are open enrollment throughout the year. They are designed to be completed within 2 months - earning 3 credits each with Victor Valley College. These two courses are self-paced and can be completed as quickly as a student wants or can take an entire semester. Open enrollment for Spring semester is available until April - so that students can complete the course by the beginning of June.
Students are able to make one-on-one appointments with the instructor for specialized assistance with the coursework, course orientation, and assessments.
Testing is available to earn your Microsoft Certification; ask your instructor for more information about the Microsoft Certificates.
Hi, I'm Susan McKeand and I'm the Program Specialist for Snowline Adult School. I started with the school 5 years ago when the Adult Program was first established at Snowline JUSD. We opened with just offering ESL and are now offering six programs and recently became a WASC accredited school! I really enjoy watching the school grow and expand to be able to help so many adults in our community reach their educational and career goals. Feel free to reach out to me to discuss your goals and how we can help you reach them. I look forward to seeing you!
And I'm Michelle Murray, the Office Technician. I am very proud to be a part of the Snowline JUSD and Adult Education. Contributing to and supporting an environment that provides the means students need to expand their knowledge, continue their education and build a better future is so rewarding. I am here to welcome you to our school, and introduce you to our amazing instructors. I will provide you with a comfortable and secure testing environment. I am just a phone call or email away. I am always happy to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.
Assessment testing plays a big role in how our school can help adults in our community. As an Adult School we can offer free classes and training thanks to the government grants we receive. In return, we are required to show data that our students are gaining the knowledge and skills that they need. Most classes will require this assessment test upon entry into our school, this is the pre-test. After about 40 hours of instruction, or a semester of school, we will test students again with a post-test. We hope to see a learning gain, or a higher score on the 2nd test. We also use this data to place students in the correct class, and to guide instruction.
