Hi! I’m Michelle Schneider and I started teaching in 2001. I have a BS in Psychology and a MS in Education, Teaching, and Curriculum from the University of Southern California. This is my 4th year with Snowline Adult School, and I absolutely love teaching adults! I want to share a little information about the three courses I teach:
Adult Basic Education
The Adult Basic Education course is a great place to start if you want to work on basic math, reading, and writing skills. This course is a great refresher if it’s been a long time since you were last in school or if you have simply forgotten some of the math you learned. This class has open enrollment, so you can sign up at any point.
The HiSET Prep course prepares you to take the HiSET (like the GED) to earn your high-school equivalency certificate. This course is currently entirely online (which is awesome because it saves you gas money and time!), but it does have live math instruction available. The online program we use covers all five subjects tested: reading, writing, social studies, science, and math. This class has open enrollment, so call the office today to get started: 760.868.5400 x10390.
High School Diploma
The High School Diploma class offers an independent study route to complete your high school diploma. You can complete your missing classes entirely online and get support from a teacher as needed. We have open enrollment throughout the year for this class, so bring us your transcripts and we can get you started on the classes you need to finish your high school diploma. Call our office to get the process started.
You get to work at your own pace - go as quickly as you’d like!
You can work on class at any time of the day
No time spent driving to school - you can use that gas money and extra time on something else
You can schedule time with the teacher for any additional instruction you need
Our ESL program continues to provide for the needs of those wishing to improve their English language skills, Civics knowledge, and job readiness. Students continue to grow more comfortable with the online learning format. Students also have access to English lessons at any time with our Burlington English program, available on a computer or smart phone. We also teach Citizenship test prep and have a significant job placement and career development portion.
The ESL classes have integrated civics lessons as we have a couple students that are taking their citizenship test soon. If you or anyone you know plans on taking the citizenship test, our program would be very helpful. We have both day and evening classes, so we can meet the needs of most students. If you are interested in career development, citizenship or improving your English for social or other reasons we would be happy to help.
Hi, I'm Jeff Fleury, I've been a teacher and a principal for 30 years, and I've been teaching at Snowline Adult School for the last 4 years. My adult students seem to enjoy our classes very much, and have many positive things to say. " I am improving my reading and writing." "It is easy learning online." "I like talking to people in my class, I like my teacher." I look forward to seeing you in our next class!
Hi! I am Susan Morris. I have been an educator for 20 years, teaching Career Technical Education. I hold a Master's degree in Education, an MBA (Master's of Business Administration), and a Ph.D in Education for Curriculum and Instruction. I love the Business pathway that is being offered. I think it gives all around skills needed for just about any industry. Contact our office for more information. I hope to see you soon!
Our CTE program begins with a basic computer class that involves typing and career building skills at the adult level. There are a total of 5 courses offered within the designated Business Pathway:
Computer Literacy - BET133 through VVC
Microsoft Word - BET 104
Microsoft Excel - BET 112
Accounting I - BADM 50
Accounting II - BADM 51 (Pending articulation)
Each course offers an industry recognized certification that can be used to enhance and improve a student’s resume. Most of our certificates are offered through Precision Exams at no cost to the student. Our Microsoft courses offer the student an opportunity to take an official Microsoft exam with a small cost for the exam.
The courses Computer Literacy and Microsoft Word are open enrollment throughout the year. They are designed to be completed within 2 months - earning 3 credits each with Victor Valley College. These two courses are self-paced and can be completed as quickly as a student wants or can take an entire semester. Open enrollment for Spring semester is available until April - so that students can be completed by the beginning of June.
Students are able to make one-on-one appointments with the instructor for specialized assistance with the coursework, course orientation and assessments.
Graduation is soon approaching! Any student wishing to participate in the graduation ceremony must order a cap and gown by March 15th. Please contact Jostens at 760-200-3889 or Jostens.com to place your order. Graduation is set for Wednesday, June 9th at Chaparral High School.
